About Us
The Hong Kong Java User Group (香港Java用家協會,HKJUG) is a non-profit making organization founded in December 2000. It is a community for Java users in Hong Kong that provides a setting for our members to get together, share experience, as well as keep abreast of the latest Java technologies via our periodical gatherings. Anyone who are enthusiastic about Java and eager to extend their knowledge in Java and related technology may join the group for free.
The main activity of HKJUG is to invite speakers and organize Java gathering periodically. As of Apr 2008, we have organized almost 50 gatherings. Our quality of events is well recognized and was selected by Sun Microsystems as one of the Top 25 Java User Group worldwide in 2003. And it's current stay in the top 100 list.
Any speaker who have any interesting project, methodology or whatever about Java may contact us to arrange to speak to our members.
Membership
Joining the HKJUG simpy means you subscribe to our announcement mail list, and we could keep you informed of our events. Joining the mail list is totally free. Please send us an email with your name to register(at)hkjug.org and we'll add you to the mail list. To remove yourself from the list, please send an email to unregister (at) hkjug.org.
Very occasionally, (once per every two years, by my observation) we send promotion email on behalf of our sponsor, and we also allow other organization to promote their event if it is relevant to Java. We do not sell any email address or do any kind of spamming.
With or without joining as a member, you may participate in our online community or events.

The HKJUG also offers the following Internet services:

- Historically, the HKJUG online community was based on the 3comp.programming.java newsgroup provided by 3home. All discussion at this newsgroup is imported to the main forum.
- For backward compatability, a newsgroup gateway accessible via news://news.hkjug.org

- For recording activities of the HKJUG Executive Committee
- Java.net - https://hkjug.dev.java.net/
- Historial events and announcement mail list are hosted at java.net
- This site is very slow to access from Hong Kong, and we'll limit our usage of the java.net services
Anyone who love Java may join our gathering and online community.

Corporate sponsorships are available for six or twelve months. During the sponsorship period, the sponsor may display its company logo on the HKJUG web site.
